Yosemite and the High Sierra
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown & Company (November, 1994)
Average review score:

Excellent, uncompromised beautyReally great photos of mounatin scapes in and about Yosimite. Waterfalls, forests, mountains and sky. Typical Ansel, most flawless.

Yosemite and the Range of Light
Published in Hardcover by Bulfinch Press (September, 1982)
Average review score:

Stunning black and white masterpiecePublished in 1979, Yosemite and the Range of Light is 116 impressive prints demonstrating the mastery of Ansel Adams. The book contains poster classics like "Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite Valley, 1944, Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, 1960, and Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, 1944." Non students of Mr. Adams will discover many "unseen" photographs that are beautiful in their own right but did not have the mass-market appeal of his classics. Too valuable to be a coffee table book, this collection is the archetype for fine art books. My copy is a family treasure.

Yosemite Big Walls with photos, topos, and rack requirementsThis IS the big wall Bible for Yosemite Valley. If you're up for the big aid walls of Yosemite, this is a MUST buy. Includes all the classic routes on Washington Column, Half Dome, El Capitan, and other Grade V & VI aid climbs in Yosemite Valley.

Yosemite Climbs: Free Climbs : Free Climbs
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (March, 1994)
Average review score:

Accept No Imitations! The most important function of any climbing guide book (in my opinion) is getting you to your selected route. Great topos are vital, but if you can never find the route...what does it matter. Don Reid is a master at both getting you there and great topo beta. Even if it is your first time in the Valley, the book gives such great directions you would be hard pressed to get lost. And, as always, Don is a master topo "artist". Don't accept any cheap substitutes, this is the book to have.

The Yosemite Grant, 1864-1906: A Pictorial History
Published in Hardcover by Yosemite Assn (November, 1995)
Average review score:

The Yosemite GrantAn excellent treatment of this period in Yosemite's history. Fun to read, gives detailed information, is indexed, and the sources are sited! Photos are well done and informative. Students at the fourth and fifth grade level can read and understand the text.

Yosemite: Its Discovery Its Wonders and Its People
Published in Paperback by Yosemite Assn (December, 1989)
Average review score:

ReflectiveI picked this book up and after reading realized I had read it years before, but what the hey! It is so very good and very interesting. The chapters on Grizzly Adams, and R.W. Emerson in the Mariposa Grove are truly interesting. John Muir was quite the dude and this park would not be the same without him. I found Carelton E. Watkins photos on the web and have used them as wallpaper for my computer. So when the going gets tough I go to Yosemite in cyberspace!!

Yosemite: The Grace & Grandeur
Published in Hardcover by Voyageur Press (April, 2002)
Average review score:

Much More Than a Coffee-Table Book"Yosemite - the Grace & Grandeur" is a must-have for anyone who plans to visit this beautiful park or who wants to re-live the memories of having visited it. While it's chock-full of beautiful photos (it's also called "A Pictorial Discovery Guide"), it also contains wonderfully written text about everything from the Park's history to its wildlife. We just got back from a visit to the park a couple of weeks ago, and immediately knew this one was a keeper!

Yosemite: Valley of Thunder (Genesis Series)
Published in Paperback by Collins Pub San Francisco (May, 1996)
Average review score:

Yosemite Dreamin'If you've ever been to Yosemite National Park or are thinking about going, this book will appeal to you. It was given to me as a gift when I moved from the Yosemite area and all I have to do is open one page to be transported back to the "Valley of Thunder".
I chose the title of this book review for my website long before I knew how poignant the words would be. Even though I'm enjoying my new geographical location, the book helps to fill those moments of nostalgia.
Ann Zwinger's well-written text is evocative of my every Yosemite memory and Kathleen Norris Cook's breathtaking photography truly does justice to the magnificent scenery to be found in the Park.
If you're able to find a copy and purchase it, don't just put it on your coffee table, read it!

Zany Zoo (A Happy Snappy Book)
Published in Hardcover by Templar Publishing (May, 2001)
Average review score:

A beautiful pop-up book! This book is so cute! These smaller pop-up Snappy books are on par with the bigger versions, but are 1/3rd the price! I was shocked at how cute the animals inside are! There is an alligator, like on the cover, an elephant, a bear, a tiger, and a hippo. They are all surrounded by bright colors and other animals. They pop out of the page in true 3D style. It amazed me so much, I quickly bought the entire series...You can not go wrong at any age group! My 9-month-old baby loves these books and so do I at 36! This book is one of the best ones out there and is destined to be around for decades to come.

Zap! Blink! Taste! Think! : Exciting Life Science for Curious Minds
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (April, 2003)
Average review score:

Five Element BookAfter I read this book I was amazed at everything from the quality of the writing and the captivation of the experiments to the jokes and proverbs placed on the pages time to time. It was easy to read, not at all hard to understand.
In baseball, a player who can do "everything" is called a five-tool player. The "tools" are speed, fielding, contact hitting, power hitting, and the strength of the player's arm. Now, if there was something in the book world that was the equivalent of this honor, let's call it the five element book. The five categories are if it's 1. Interesting 2. Exciting
3. Informing 4. Well written and 5. Creative. Mrs. Chahrour's book easily falls under each of the these categories. Me and my family also agreed that it was really fun and extremely simple. I would highly recommend the book to middle schoolers, but also to their parents and family. It changed the way I looked at science by seeing how much fun and simple it can really be.
